Where was Roger?
Author: MartyBernard

These six are in sequence from the same roll of Kodachrome. The number is what Kodak printed on the slide mount. Roger Puta shot these near the end of October 1971. He was out in the prairies.

24 CN FP9 6506. We have identified this diesel leading the Rupert Rocket at Smithers, BC in daylight. Have no idea if this is the same day.

26 Sleeper Endeavour

28 boarding

29 boarding

33 an open end obs car

34 station platform

Thanks for any help,
Marty Bernared

#5 Sure looks like the Prince George, BC station. This would lead me to believe that #1-4 are there also.

#6 is at at Jasper, AB looking RR west.

My guess is the open platform car is car no. 23, later 93, which was based at Edmonton and assigned to the Regional Vice-President of the mountain region. I am basing this on the location of the track lights on the end of the car. This car was later sold to a buyer in California, and ended up as RPCX 800693, "TIOGA PASS". Ironically, this car returns to Canada every year as an escort car for trainloads of military equipment moving from near Calgary to Becancour, Quebec, East of Montreal. When the car passes it's "birthplace" of Point St. Charles shop in Montreal, strange voices arise from the floor saying "I'm home!".

Car on the left in 3 & 4 might be in the process of being added on, looks like that car is moving. Brakemen in place with lanterns in hands making the coupling.

Google StreetView confirms Pic 5 being the CN/VIA passenger station in Prince George, BC Canada.

So they are probably adding sleepers at Prince George.
