Nostalgia & History > The Hills of Barberton - C&O 8404Date: 07/20/17 18:48 The Hills of Barberton - C&O 8404 Author: refarkas Many people forget that Barberton, Ohio south of Snyder Avenue looks similar to Southeast Ohio/West Virginia. Here is C&O 8404 heading east in September 1989. The fourth unit is NYS&W.

It was subsequently rebuilt by VMV as an SD40-2 and was renumbered to #8404 as in the posted photo. Recently, the unit was rebuilt as an SD40-3 and was renumbered to #4299. So this unit is still in active service.
