When things were a little simpler a teenager and his Dad could roam freely through the Tracy Engine Facility.

Ironically, the RS11s returned to Tracy in the 1970s with 2913 there on a regular basis.

When new, as the 5800's they worked the Coast piggyback trains, then into local service including serving the many
SF Peninsula industries, then to Southern California, briefly back up north, and finally banned to the East.

Interesting is the FM Trainmaster on the right side of the photo... Probably a week end.

The Tracy engine facility in 1961 was a lot simpler than it was in the steam era, and what's there now is even simpler.

Lots to look at in that photo, but for some reason my attention was drawn to all the headlights and how they are arranged on those RS11's but also the fact that they only sprung for one class light.

Pretty sure both of them are there - the one over the other number board is just hard to see from this angle.

Separate bulbs for each color didn't come about until the Century-series locomotives.
