NP 3562 What is the story?
Author: sfn2633

Doug DeBerg, civil engineer for CNW, captured this photo of NP boxcar 3562 in 1971 on the Adams Sub. We are both curious as to the origin of the Freedom logo. Any background information would be great.

This was a US Savings bond drive slogan
"Share in Freedom" "With U.S. Savings Bonds New Freedom Shares"
Humble Oil had the same stickers on some delivery tankers.

The Vietnam war was starting to have an impact on the "income" of the US Govt and they implemented a program to buy bonds.

I have two Athearn boxcars with this scheme, and I think more often than not I see one for sale at model train swap meets.

Oh, and I think the car number stated in the caption should be "31562" (missing the "1"). The two models I have are 31564 and 31573.
