Inter-American and the MP -- Dec 74
Author: gcm

Shortly after leaving Dallas Union Station and headed to Ft.Worth on the T&P, passed a Missouri Pacific freight.
Fairly new SD40-2 3110 led with SD40 3088 behind.

Very good slides, Gary. I liked seeing the classic T&P signal bridge with Amtrak #21's E unit power and postwar LWT cars . Those 1950's cars rode better than Superliners...and you didn't have to climb up and down the stairs for the bathrooms. THANKS.. -Kelly

Good stuff. MoPac even has the class lights illuminated, it appears.

And you didn't fall out the Dutch door. Try that today and you would be warned first and then kicked off the train if there was a second attempt. A safety hazard you know.

I find it very strange how "vestibuling" is considered the crime-of-the-century and an extreme safety hazard on some properties and encouraged on others.

It's really a shame. I road the Amtrak California Zephyr in 1990 and by golly I wanted to experience the dutch door view a few times. I think I was aware passengers were not supposed to do this but screw-it, I did it anyway - I just didn't push my luck and do it for long. I think I saw a few others do it too for a little bit. IMO, that is one of the grand experiences of riding a passenger train.

Cheers, Jim
