Nostalgia & History > Switcher Saturday, preserved.Date: 10/14/17 17:39 Switcher Saturday, preserved. Author: hank A couple preserved early EMD Switchers.
1.Chrome Locomotive near the ex Rock Island Silvis Shops. Silvis, Illinois March 1988. 2 NSP #4 near a power plant in St. Paul, Minnesota. March 1998. I think these are SW1. Any corrections welcome. Enjoy. Hank. Date: 10/14/17 17:46 Re: Switcher Saturday, preserved. Author: refarkas Thanks for posting these two industrial switchers. They are great catches.

According to this, Northern States Power #4 is an SW1 built in 1940 as CB&Q 9146 (later C&S 115 and FW&D 601): http://gsrm.org/roster_of_equipment/tour_nsp_4 http://gsrm.org/fwd_601_nsp_4_-_1940_emc_sw1 EMD built its last 201A-powered, cast frame switchers in 1939.
