SP X 6385 East, West Of Blue Canyon, Calif., June 19th, 1965

When I recently posted a video of an eastbound UP empty coal train grinding up Donner Pass
west of Blue Canyon here on TO, the famous John Bromley commented that he could remember braces
of F units grinding up the grade there in the 1960s while he was attending college.

Here is one of the first train photos I took at the same location on June 19, 1965 on my first
visit to the Hill. Sorry about the instamatic quality.

Given how much tonnage the old SP moved, I've always found it interesting how they used 4-bolt track binders / braces vs. 6-bolt as seen on UP and other roads.
