Rock Island 1265 is about to cross the diamonds in Joliet, Illinois on August 11, 1972.

1265 was the usual power on the Joliet - Bureau Turn.
In between Turns, it was used around Joliet on some
industrial or yard switching jobs.

Ah yes, the venerable ole 1265. I rode that locomotive so may times on the Bureau turn working with "Red" and Harry.
It was a reliable locomotive as it performed its weekday duties reliably.

An interesting photo with a lot of railroading in it.

Hopefully hitting the diamonds did not dislodge any parts from the venerable Geep.

Red, Harry and the 1265 were part of many summer days in Utica for this young railfan.
She was the first road engine I ever rode on (prior to that my only cab rides were on the SW assigned to the Utica switcher).

Thanks to the Bobs (Refarkas and Krieger) for bringing back the great memories!
