UP heavyweight diner at Cheyenne -- Nov 74
Author: gcm

It looked like 906200 was still being used as a diner for work crews.
It was built in 1927, modernized in 1951, retired from regular service in 1968.

They served some darn good meals out of those work diners at wreck sites! I got to partake 4 or 5 times in the Green River wreck diner out in the middle of nowhere east of Carter, WY. === === = === JLH

Motive Power & Machinery Department. Not just the best for derrick crews - They fed track gangs, signal gangs and Supervisors well, too. === === = === JLH

A similar car is at Orange Empire. It is actually a café lounge that was converted from a diner. It has been beautifully repainted and I believe plans were to restore the interior, if not already done.

Sorry, it is/was Motive Power & Machinery. If you must, look it up on UtahRails.net. === === = === JLH

Thanks for showing this. UP 906215 is in Evanston WY and I believe will become part of the rail park/roundhouse display as it takes shape.

Were the MOW diners staffed and provisioned by the hotel and dining car department, or were they independent?
