Really cool. But that last photo shows the Chief boxcar with a different logo. When was that painted? Ahh, back when "the West" was a word that painted a picture.

Nice memories, Gary! I shot quite a few of those 40 ft psgr slogan boxcars. But then one day, they were all gone...

According to the old Santa Fe Modelers Organization Santa Fe Railway Painting and Lettering Guide for Model Railroaders v.1 Rolling Stock, the slogan in the third photo was applied 1940-47, with a stylized system map adorning the other side of the car. The slogan in the first two photos was applied 1947-58, with "Ship and Travel Santa Fe All the Way" on the other side. That agrees with the build dates of the class Bx-48 (third photo, 1946), Bx-69 (first photo, 1955), and Bx-72 (second photo, 1957).
