1. UP B-21 at East Yard, Los Angeles 1-1-56

2. ATSF 9161 at Cajon station. 1947 The UP is westbound and it appears the Buda is heading up the north track towards Sullivan's Curve. The old highway is in the background. Thanks to shortlineboss for pointing this out.

Interesting stuff. Thanks for posting.
That B-21 is great, with all of those markers and that huge plow. Can't imagine why they would have such a huge plow on anything in the LA area. Too bad more of these weren't preserved.

The big plow was probably more for knocking foreign items off the right-of-way than snow-clearing

On that SF 9161 inspectation car, where is the rear wheel and axle on it? I don't see anything under the rear end. upkpfan

It's there behind the stirrup step on the side, same place as on UP B-21.

Neat photos indeed of seldom-seen railcars!

Two more show-stoppers! I first saw a Buda Railcar in a great posting yesterday. These two are equally unbelievable.
The plow and headlights on the first made it look almost scary when approaching, I imagine.

And the cow catcher on the second really looks retro. How about the white flags! I wonder if
Chard ever rode in it? The F's in the background are icing on the cake.

Thanks for the incredible photos.

Just noticed all the hats on the pax in the Santa Fe car. Brass hats indeed, back in the day. Kinda cool UP freight passing by too.

Could the 9161 be E/B on the North track at Cajon? Are any Buda's still around?

It isn't - the wide running boards just make it look that way.
