SP 1200 at Ozol, 1969...
Author: Notch16

Another Kodachrome that waited for the invention of PhotoShop. Strong sidelight, deep shadow... but with a little help, the details stand in very useful relief. Note the twist handles on the hood doors, and that nice Nathan M3 AirChime horn -- not an everyday SP appliance by this time. Nice full package of Mars-brand lights too. But next to no trace of the former Tiger Stripe or Halloween black-and-orange. (Sometimes the radiator shutters of Scarlet & Gray units like this one would show Tiger Stripes through the expanded metal screen when closed... if they happened to be open when the unit was painted, I'd guess.

Ozol, California in February of 1969. The Pacific Locomotive Association has sister 1218, and the plan is for a return to these colors in the not-too-distant future, as they say on MST3K.

A unit that made a lot of trips up and down the San Ramon Branch, that M-3 was a beauty on this unit sounded perfect!! Thank you Bob, saw and heard it many times in Walnut Creek!
