Another Rice Yard scene: C&S red and AT&SF freight F's
Author: valmont

Rice Yard (Denver) was a potpourri of power with easy access and a variety of clear shot opportunities back in the late 60's and early 70's, bolstered by beet harvest season foreign power like MKT F's.

Where was Rice Yard? In my area, it is CSX's facility at Waycross, GA.
Thanks!

Very cool photo. Is that guy on the CB&Q diesel filling the sander reservoirs?

Very interesting photo; not to mention the CB&Q SD peeking out from behind the F Units.

Gotta say, if Mr. Peabody could really set his "Wayback Machine", I would definitely go to Denver in the late 50's. ATSF, DRGW, CB&Q all in one place! Even some UP I guess. I doubt I got any better than that. Valmont, I really enjoy all the photos you post!

Union Pacific had (has) a large presence in Denver, akshully.

Add-in CRI&P and the MoPac to that list, as well!

FWIW, When scanning thru the "Nostalgia & History" forums, I
ALWAYZ check-out Valmonts' stuff right-off.

Consistently good and interesting 'eye-candy'; particularly
for a 60-year resident of Colorado's Front range.

Yup, the SD40 is in fact a Colorado & Southern unit; Rice Yard was
right across I-25 (still called the "Valley Highway" back then)
from Bear/Mile High Stadium.

(Um....No Denver Bronco jokes, puh-leez -- yeah, they're awful this year.)
