D&RGW 767, drop bottom gon, Lindsey Ashby collection. Coal Creek Trading Post coal pile at Florence, CO, January 12, 2018.

D&RGW 767 narrow gauge drop bottom gon acquired by Lindsey Ashby collection. Gon was moved from Parkdale, CO, when Martin Marietta purchased Rock & Rail November 2016. Coal pile in foreground at Coal Creek Trading Post. Cars stored on the ground. Lindsey Ashby decided to sell off some of his narrow gauge equipment November 2013. The locomotives and cars were used for many years in Central City and Silver Plume, CO, operations.

About 46 freight cars, passenger cars and locomotives were for sale. Many were in storage at the Colorado RR Museum (CRRM) and the others are in Canon City and Parkdale, CO. NOT all of the equipment was for sale. Locomotives #40 and #44 and shay #14 were not. Caboose 0400 was NOT. Also there were a couple of diesels, the Tahoe car and a few freight cars that will be kept by the Ashby's.

However the list of cars being sold back in 2013-2014 did include 2 shays, 2 cabooses and a diesel.

The prices on this equipment were not for the faint of heart. The prices are firm and reflect today’s prices. Freight cars average $6000.00 each (and go up from there). Cabooses started at $25,000.00 (and up) and converted freight cars for passenger service started around $8000.00. MOST ITEMS HAVE FOUND NEW HOMES between 2014-2017.
