Bringing Back The SP, Tom Hallendorf Movies, 1960s
Author: FiveChime

This evening's segment covers more Peninsula subject matter including a nice
Train 372 with LA Passenger Pool F Units, Then to Oakland and Shellmond near
the long gone hot metal rolling mill. Nice views of PAs and freshly painted
former demo SD7 5308 in a consist with a commute geep and SD7 5325 with the
1959 experimental lettering.

Moves taken by Tom Hallendorf and posted here with Tom's permission.

These are great so thanks for sharing. Interesting to see SD7 5308 with the red whiskers painted at both end to indicate it's a dual control equipped engine. Did SP continue that practice as long as they had dual control equipment in place? I believe SP may have removed the that capability when the units were put throughout their Sacramento rebuilding later in life.

What a great video, reminds me of the ones my grandpa had taken and we used to love watching those at his house as kids.

Lots of great locations in the video, it’s crazy to see how much has changed since then.

The shot of 11 at 34th St around 3:15--
looks like the eastward Shellmound
signal bridge is still there, in the
background. But no sign of it in the
view of the C628 from the 34th St
signal bridge, at the end.

Not only is the video a great piece of work but the added musical accompaniment is great too. Thanks for both.

Thanks to all for the kind words... my only regret is, at the time, I wish I could have afforded more film!
All the best -
