NJ CR photos from the 1980s
Author: Pattenburg

On this dreary day here in New Jersey I decided to scan in some Conrail black & white photos from the 1980s.
The first photo shows CR 2234 heading back to Allentown down what is now referred to as NS's Washington Secondary. It is seen heading past the Port Murray depot (NJ) with a CR caboose, number unknown, and four cars trailing on October 6, 1983. CR 2234 is an EMD GP30 and ex-PRR 2234.
The second photo has CR's PIOI about a mile west of where it will cross over the Raritan River Bridge in Neshanic Station (NJ) on February 10, 1985. Motive power for this general merchandise freight was CR 6292, CR 6700 and CR 6754. Those two bridges seen in the background have since been removed over what is now referred to as NS's Lehigh Line.

Well done. Your trains and locations are both interesting.

Thank-you! At times it is just a case as being fortunate enough to be in the right spot at the right time.

I really like your Neshanic photo. A while ago I posted a photo from the first bridge in your photo. It is the last photo in this thread.
