Nice catch on that Budd RPO.

Regarding the RI "RPO", what is this car's history? Always a RI car? It has been reworked to some extent.....two large "baggage" doors reduced to half their original size, windows eliminated, and a vestibule added. In what kind of service was it being used in this configuration?

It appears that it has been converted to a work (bunk) car
as the car(s) as built were full RPO's.

As an RPO, it never had "baggage" doors; the fluting is missing, as it would have gotten banged up in service. The vestibule was added because this car was used sometimes as the tail car, and the conductor needed a place to stand for reverse moves, etc.
