Correct - I was standing under it.
The operators didn't mind my presence but I tried to stay out of their view.

If I had to pick ONE paint scheme that says "Downtown Chicago" it would be that C&NW look hands down. There's just some about that non-pretentious solid yellow with the slanted nose emblem that stands out so strongly in my mind. Even though I grew up in Kansas...

Very nice shot, Gary! I was on this curve for a whole afternoon in 1979 and again in 1980. In '79 I had crummy overcast weather. I wish I had known about your vantage point. Perfect for cloudy weather!

I really like this photo because it captures the essence of commuter railroading in Chicago.

Per a check on Google Street View, the Cassidy Tire Company is still there.

That is a great location for a photo. The curve makes it more interesting.
