20 years ago this week: Grab a Meet at Perry

April 12, 1998 was Easter Sunday, and I was returning home to Lawrence from my grandparents' house at Perry Lake. Just as I was going through Perry, I found myself in position to catch two trains meet.

Of note: The center siding is still present here.

1: A pair of SD40-2s, 3807 and 3538, lead a west man at Lecompton Road in Perry.

3: While the west man is still on the crossing, this eastbound vehicle train comes by on the other main. (Image straightened and a little airbrushing of the sky area in the upper right-hand corner)

Nice look back at the not-so-old days of yellow & gray SDs, code lines & center sidings. Uncle Pete did have a certain flair...
