Photo 1 is totally awesome! ALLEN Date: 04/25/18 11:46 Re: Penn Central's big three electrics and a Metroliner thrown in Author: knotch8 Thanks for all of these excellent photos. They're beautiful.
Photo 1 was taken at Edgewood, MD, looking south toward Baltimore. The doubled-headed GG-1 train looks like a Florida train, with a bag/dorm on the head-end, coming north on Track 2, while the Metroliner is southbound on Track 3. The siding to the right is called Edgewood Siding, a controlled siding with catenary that extends for a mile or two to a location called Magnolia at the north end of the Gunpowder River bridge. Out of sight behind the GG-1s (but you can see the catenary) is the Magnolia Siding, which is on the east side of the main line. It, too, has catenary. Here's an aerial view of the location. https://goo.gl/maps/m5EcPfPY46u The GG-1 is going left to right on the map/photo while the Metroliner is going right to left. (VGN, N&W, NH previously). Did any of them make it onto Conrail’s roster?
