Brewster Memory - WM 3795
Author: refarkas

It is the early 1970's, and WM power is commonly seen in the N&W yard in Brewster, Ohio. In the engine facility, WM 3795 and N&W 317 are part of the power for one train.

Nice shot. Sure like the ALCO and always enjoy seeing the overhanging bell on those GP's.

An interesting photo from an interesting time.
Foreign power on a railroads was not a daily occurrence back in those days.

However it was more common on both the N&W and the WM as so much of the N&W loaded freight cars came to Baltimore via the WM to the port of Baltimore. This is why I have stated before that the ICC made a grave mistake in not allowing the N&W to acquire the WM rather than allow the Chessie System (which already owned a majority of WM stock) to merge it in to Chessie. It would have allowed more competition.

I saw Western Maryland units lead trains into Bellvue. I thought Brewster was the quintessential railroad facility. Great place. Thanks for the memory
