Nostalgia & History > F-Unit Friday - NYC 1698Date: 05/24/18 22:53 F-Unit Friday - NYC 1698 Author: refarkas Sometimes a defective negative is given a chance. This one was improperly processed and has hundreds of very tiny white spots from air bubbles. If this were any larger, the white spots would be too obvious.
NYC 1698 is in an unknown location in 1968/1969. There is what looks to be a wooden caboose in front of the building on the right. Bob Date: 05/24/18 23:10 Re: F-Unit Friday - NYC 1698 Author: TCnR Very interesting photo with the heavy industry background, not to mention the caboose hiding by the door. Don't see too many NYC F-units on the web these days.
PhotoShop Elements has some simple to use tools to deal with the specs and other facts of life that appear on scans. It also deals with heavy shadows and can sharpen an image by adding pixels around the fine lines. Pretty cool stuff, highly recommended. Last I heard it was still under $100 bucks. t4p. In the immediate background is an overhead crane. A little further back is the building with the wooden caboose in front of it. Caboose will probably meet its demise here. Then further back is a steel trestle. Finally there is a cluster of buildings that appear to be a church and related structures. Hopefully there are enough clues here for someone to identify the scene.
