Nostalgia & History > GM demonstrator at Woodford, CaliforniaDate: 06/13/18 10:55 GM demonstrator at Woodford, California Author: locogimp This image was taken by my father who worked for the Southern Pacific signal department and was working on a gang in the Tehachapi area. I don't know the date it was taken, but he did label it "Santa Fe demonstrator at Woodford." He was not a railfan, but he loved to take pictures unfortunately this one is a bit blurry. I will be posting more of his images from his signal gang days as I get them Photoshopped.

The so-called "B Unit" that EMD borrowed from the Museum in Roanoke, Va was a former Southern Rwy FTB, that was turned into a "heater car" with steam generators and a small generator set, all of which had been long gutted from the FTB. The EMD Engineering Dept. and and production paint shop employees cosmetically restored both pieces, for the 50th anniversary open house in October 1989. The "FT103" was eventually returned to the St Louis Museum, and the "FTB" was returned to the museum in Roanoke, Va. The FTB is at the Museum in St Louis, sort of a temporary trade with Roanoke for the N&W Y6A Posted from iPhone |
