SP6394 waiting for its next train at Sparks 1959
Author: photobob

My Dad took me up to Sparks when I was fifteen with my new Argus C22 and a roll of Kodachrome. We wandered all over the shop area with out being hassled. This is where I fell in love with SP F-units.

I can see why, great color rendition; Kodachrome really holds up well.

Great pic as usual. It’s nice to see the backshops in the background. Last time I was in Sparks, say 2007-ish, it was still there, serving, it appeared, as several different businesses... Anyone know if UP has levelled it yet? I doubt that they still own it, but ya never know...

Thanks again, Bob.

What a great slide for a fifteen year old. It is certainly a beauty now.

I clicked on a link in the "Nostalgia & History" page of trainorders.com and this image popped up and literally made me gasp for breath, it was so spectacular.

Great stuff Bob. I can see why Reno and Sparks were so high on your travel list.

When's that next book coming out?

Classic SP. Today's loco's are more powerful and reliable, but they're still all crap compared to the EMD "F" unit when it comes to looks.
