<<Does the brake smoke signify a downhill run?>> Yes, downhill and eastbound and about to cross Lake Coeur d'Alene. This train is actually headed for Wallace and Mullan, ID. Sadly, this location is now abandoned and the right of way has been made into one of the nicest paved trails in North Idaho; The Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes. https://friendsofcdatrails.org/ UPRR still runs a Plummer Local from Spokane several days a week, that connects with the STMA in Plummer, as well as doing other on-line work.
