A little ironic that a train named the Scenic Limited passed through the scenic Feather River Canyon at night!

did any of the the heavyweight cars of the era have air conditioning ....as this train would have gone across the desert in summer daytime?

4/35 Guide says the diner and lounge-obs were AC. Presumably they couldn't promise AC in a sleeper, but maybe you could hope to get lucky.
