Author: Roadjob this shot of a drag entering the Chessie/C&O yard at Russell Kentucky did not draw much interest from me at the time, but it was relief from the coveyor belt of coal trains they were running in the area at the time. Never printed this image, but in going through my land of lost negatives, I couldn't help but be intrigued by the large center window on the lead U25B. Most U25s I had seen were on the EL at the time, or PC, and both has a frame in the center of the middle window. The uniqueness of this unit caught up with me 43 years later. I'm sure other roads opted for this, but this is the only one I ever saw.

Author: Evan_Werkema Low nose U25B's had the one-piece windshield until the last year of production, when GE changed to the two-piece design. Erie Lackawanna and Penn Central rostered U25B's with both windshield configurations:

Author: Roadjob Thanks for the info. I seemed to have seen only the split windshields, or at least I thought so. I only rode in a U25B one time on EL and remember the frame in the center. Would have loved that large view! Have to check back on my photo albums of printed pictures from that era. I think it was the big white frame around the window that caught my attention on this one.

Date: 07/21/18 09:34 Re: room with a view. Author: ns2557 Didn't the "slope" of the low nose coincide with units that had the 2 pc windsheild? I seem to recall on at least the PC units, those that had the more flat top of nose also had the one pc windsheild. Or am I imagining this? Thnks, Ben
