Very good catch. Happened to me once too in the early Conrail days  (Feb. 1977). CR 2586 and EL 2586 on same train, except the EL unit was third so number boards were tougher to see on the slide.

Very cool shot!!  Summer of '76 was quite a time in the northeast.

Just about everything in this shot (except maybe the earth) is gone.

Had that happen to me more than a few times while wokring the Minnesota desk on the Soo Line.  Soo's SD60's and the CP's 6000 series SD40's would show up in the same consist.  Took forever for the railroad to change that.
