It’s déjà vu all over again!
Author: santafe199

The late, great Yogi Berra once said (or not*): “It’s déjà vu all over again”. The former Yankee catcher & MLB Hall of Famer has been accredited with a whole trainload of off-the-wall quotes, quips and otherwise zany witticisms. *It has been said that some of his delightful discombobulations of the King’s English can’t possibly be authentic. But Yogi had the perfect come back to that infamous assertion. He said: “I really haven’t said half the things I’ve said…”

Back in early July Marty posted a Rick Burn photo that made me sit right up and look close. For a few seconds I thought I was looking at a shot taken in the Calhoun Bluffs area NE of Topeka, KS. Definitely a feeling of déjà vu! I borrowed the shot and combined it with one of my own. The missing gate posts and pole line in my shot could easily be explained by the 21 year difference in photo dates. You decide...

Meanwhile here’s a link to Marty’s original thread. Be sure to check it out! There are also a couple of great UP passenger shots: ( https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?11,4587150,4587150#4587150 )

Thanks for looking twice!

The trouble with Iowa and Kansas is "it gets late early out there".

AND:  Nobody goes there nowadays, its to crowded. Or  Pair up in threes.  And,   When you come to the fork in the road, take it.

Just think:  he didn't have to worry about someone correcting him on Facebook, Twitter, et all.

Nope, wrong, its ...

Perhaps you can do Marty a favor and take your correction over to him. Or did you not read that part of what you highlighted? I just copied down his posted info...

Back in the olden days when I lived in Omaha, and when the UP still had an STO who orchestrated the movement of trains through CB, I woluld often here references to Beanos on the radio. But I was never clear as to what exactly Beanos was. Could you clarify that for me? Thanks. Beanos certainly sounds better than "Musicall Hill Lane." "Park your train at Musical Hills Lane."  No way.

Two more reputed "Berra-isms:"

Ninety percent of this game is half mental!

After ordering a pizza in NYC, Yogi was asked if he wanted his pie cut into 6 pieces or 8.  He responded, "You better cut it into 6.  I don't think I could eat 8!"
