Kodachrome incorrect letter placement
Author: bakersfielddave

Was wondering if any Santa fe units were on the fireman's side stenciled with the S F letter directly behind the Cab instead of leaving room for the never applied S P letters that would have made them SFSP ?

It would have been SPSF.

Not that I've seen.  There were a few other lettering irregularities during the SPSF era however, like a few Santa Fe B23-7's that had the S and F very widely spaced on the nose, presumably leaving room for "PS" in the middle:

Most SPSF-painted locomotives from both roads had the nose initials closely spaced, such that the noseband would have had to be completely repainted had the merger gone through.
