Nostalgia & History > ARR 3012 @ Anchorage, Ak; fall, 1983Date: 09/22/18 16:18 ARR 3012 @ Anchorage, Ak; fall, 1983 Author: JFArrFan ARR 3012, with ARR 3014 & ARR 3006, lead a gravel train south through the yard in the fall of 1983
Also seen that day was ARR 1502, on the south end of a passenger train, parked at the depot. It might be a train for the Alaska Fair in Palmer, or it could be headed south. It was repainted in 2014 and continues to serve the railroad to this day, mostly on work trains and Whittier turns.
Between its length and the use of a baggage car, the P-train at Anchorage depot is not likely a fair train. Hard to say what it is though. I used to work the circuits carried over those lines. Now it is all Satellite and Cable except maybe to Alaska. James R.(Jim) Baker Whittier, CA |
