Nostalgia & History > Still Flying Signal Flags 1984Date: 10/06/18 00:11 Still Flying Signal Flags 1984 Author: krm152 The NS merger had been over two years away but you could not tell it ever happened by these photos taken on October 20, 1984 at Buechel in eastern Louisville. This westbound manifest freight with three SD’s was running long hood forward with green flags indicating a following section.
The train was literally creeping so I was able to take the first photo of the train passing by the Buechel depot on the east side of Bardstown Rd, then run ahead of the train and take the second photo after the train had crossed to the west side.
