McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania. September, 1997. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 10/08/18 04:14 by overniteman. Date: 10/08/18 05:57 Re: Pittsburgh Industrial Author: refarkas Great catches.
Thanks for posting these. Bob Date: 10/08/18 06:57 Re: Pittsburgh Industrial Author: cr7998 Nice shots of a short-lived operation. These photographs were taken at the yard and offices of the former PC&Y (Pittsburgh, Chartiers & Youghiogheny) in McKees Rocks. The PC&Y had been jointly owned by the P&LE and PRR/PC. Conrail ended up with 100% ownership after the P&LE was absorbed into CSX. In 1996, Conrail spun off the former PC&Y, along with the Chartiers Branch which was the remnant of the PRR line from Pittsburgh to Washington PA. Railtex was the successful bidder, and named their operation the Pittsburgh Industrial Railroad. It only lasted four years, 1996-2000. When Rail America bought out Railtex, the PIR was sold off to the Ohio Central, and became the Pittsburgh & Ohio Central, and it remains in operation today as a Genesee & Wyoming property. I believe the P&OC still bases their crews here at McKees Rocks.
