Nostalgia & History > Nevada Files: "Southern Pacific" finger written by someone 1994Date: 11/16/18 07:02 Nevada Files: "Southern Pacific" finger written by someone 1994 Author: RailRat Elko Nevada, Eastbound, 10-6-1994, Some crew member clarified the dwindling pride of Southern Pacific Railroad, by wiping through the diesel grime, the 120 year old or so herald on the side of the diesel, using his work glove or who knows what, sourcastically displaying the railroad's current condition, despite it's heritage, during the final few years of operation. (Southern Pathetic) I caught it on camera, at the last moment as an eastbound departed Elko,Nevada. These were Grimm days, for employees of a company that was truly made of generations of family, soon to be absorbed and extinguished by the big yellow machine.
