Yes Thats right, I got around back then, from Elko to West Wendover the same day, Pilot siding is between Silver Zone Pass and Wendover Nevada, where the wind blows, and nothin grows! A Westbound UP Hot train blows horn past the siding.

Jim, the ZSCST came off a setout of cars by the APLAZ at Garfield, UT, and always a small train as shown on the video. The train then morphed into the ZAPLT around the time the UP/SP merger happened in 1996. In 1997 the trains started running west out of Ogden on ex-SP trackage and ran that way for a couple of years before disappearing for good. I never did hear what happened with the business but one of the rumors going around was that the BNSF got the contract, so maybe that is what happened.

Enjoyed the videos here of UP action in Nevada back in the good ol' days of railroading out west.
