BB: typical classy BB D&RGW freight shot from 1967

here's a heck of a shot of a Grande freight that Bruce Black took in July 1967 .... know the location?

Looks like it could be the Tennessee Pass line with Mount Massive off to the left but not sure.

Here's what Bruce noted on mount: '7 mi n. of Salida, CO'

I took a gander at Google Maps north of Salida. I found an area roughly 7 miles N of town where tangent trackage runs WNW out of a slight left hand curve. So if Bruce's shot is in the afternoon, it matches perfectly. The Arkansas River would be out of frame to his right. And Bruce would have had to negotiate quite some distance over back roads. But from all accounts it sounds like this would not have been much of a stretch for Bruce's intrepid ways... :^)

I believe that the shot that Bruce took is jsut east of the east switch of Brown's Canon.  The highway is just to the left as is the 
Arkansas River.

yes, that is an eastbound train not far out of Brown Canyon siding, which was at the entrance/exit of Brown's Canyon.  The crew is 7 miles from the end of their days work.
