Shot From the California Zephyr in Colorado -- 1968 -- Rick Burn

In January 1968 Rick shot pictures from a dome on the California Zephyr in Colorado and California.  Here are four Colorado photos.

1 and 2. D&RGW's California Zephyr in Glenwood Canyon, CO in January 1968.  [EDIT] See comment on location of shot #2.

3. D&RGW F7A 5571 with Train 10, the Yampa Valley Mail, from the California Zephyr, Bond, CO in January 1968.

4. D&RGW GP40s 3073 and 3063 , from the California Zephyr, Glenwood Canyon, CO in January 1968.

Image 2 is Byers Canyon southwest of Hot Sulphur Springs, CO.  Thanks for sharing Rick's CZ trip back in 1968.

Shot one is not Glenwood Canyon.  Track is on the wrong side of the river.  There is no highway across the river either.  This may be between Pine Cliff and Rollinsville,.  All assuming this is all from one westbound move.

Nice shots!  In shots 1 , and 4 old Rio Grande passenger train crews based in Denver and worked to and from Grand Junction. Denver and Grand Junction engine crews worked to and from Bond, CA
