Nostalgia & History > City of St. Louis?Date: 11/18/18 15:47 City of St. Louis? Author: bobwilcox This was shot just east of Granite, Wy in late spring 1968. I believe it is the City of St. Louis, but my notes are weak.

Date: 11/18/18 16:35 Re: City of St. Louis? Author: dan city of portland my guess, when it still went thru denver, about this time cofStL became cofKC, and city of portland soon would not be combined with cod and go thru denver
miss it thank you Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/18/18 16:37 by dan. Date: 11/18/18 20:41 Re: City of St. Louis? Author: Copy19 The City of St. Louis was the first passenger train I ever rode. My mother and I rode it from Las Vegas down to LA and back in the 50s.. I remember a dining car waiter commenting on the fact we were running 20 minutes late who said, "Number 9, never on time". I chanced upon the conductor in the vestibule who was clocking us from Barstow running toward Cajon Pass. He said we were doing 109.

It had reverted to Cheyenne by then. Anyone got a summer 1968 public timetable, showing whether the City of St Louis had two domes? Date: 11/19/18 11:33 Re: CoP Author: wag216 This shows a combine, looks like the 106 would get my vote. wag216

The City of St Louis did not use a Baggage - Dorm, but rather a Dorm Lounge car. Two domes for the City of St Louis, when not combined with another train, is unlikely in this era. Enjoyable photo, thank you. |
