Variety dressed in black. There was a lot of optimism around the Penn Central and a sense that the railroad industry was turning the corner after decades of decline. Ultimately it just didn't work financially which set the stage for Conrail.

I still love the Central which lives on in a small way in our home.

I'd say the Central lives on in your home in a big way considering the size of Lionel O Gauge. Now my son's Z Guage PRR train is lining on in a small way!
Nice photo of the PC even though I never cared for the bland black scheme, although it was the proper color for the PC's future.
