Portage Limestone became Shelly Materials and no longer has 7564. Shelly Materials now has Shelly Materials 321 (ex-DM&IR EMD SD-18).

Nice roster photo.  Those roof top air tanks on #7564 indicate it had originally been equipped with a steam generator.

Some railroads ordered their GP9’s with roof mounted air tanks just so they could have a larger fuel tank and were not passenger units. 7564 is obviously ex Conrail so I am gonna hazard a guess that’s it’s an ex NYC passenger GP9.

Not aware of any road that ordered GP7/GP9 units with roof mounted air tanks just to get a larger fuel tank.
Since you raised the issue expect you to cite specifics to support your statement.
