Some Chicago Great Western Stations -- Walt Dunlap
Author: MartyBernard

Walt's slides contain a lot of images of depots and station areas.  Lucky us.  CGW certainly had distingtive depots.  Here is a sampling.

1. CGW Depot at Kenyon, MN on February 29, 1964.

2. CGW Freight House at Kenyon, MN on February 29, 1964.

3. CGW Depot at Nerstrand, MN on August 7, 1964.

You keep killing me with envy posting the CGW shots. I like everything about this railroad except that I never did get on the property. The stations look like overgrown model kits.  Great character in every one of them.

These CGW depots really have a "family" look.  I wish someone could dig up a shot of the Carroll, IA depot which didn't fit the mold at all.  Later in the late 60's or early 70's it became the office of the Chamber of Commerce, which I was the manager.  Would love to see what it looked like as a depot.!
