"Almost" makes me wish that I had grown up in Minnesota!

What a sharp looking train.  I love that E unit!

Looks to be approaching what's now University east (empirically southeast) of Northtown.  I can be corrected on that.

This was taken just before "simplified" paint scheme on the E units.   This is
the as delivered scheme. During the what I called "GN hour" at GN Station
in Minneapolis between eight and nine AM, one could see the "Gopher",
"Dakotan", "Winnipeg Limited", and "Western Star" on adjacent tracks.
I was always sorry I did not pack a camera at that time in the mid-60s.
I heartily agree, Minnesota was a great place to grow up at that time.
The ability to travel throughout the state by train was wonderful.

Welllll, not quite.  "As delivered", the E7's had the "Great Northern" spelled out in script across the nose.  There are
several publicity photos of this.  However, I don't believe it lasted very long and may never have been used in service.
