Nostalgia & History > Coast Starlight with PV and SP freight at the Miramar -1984Date: 02/03/19 21:29 Coast Starlight with PV and SP freight at the Miramar -1984 Author: spdaylight Had some requests to dig up some more video of our frequent stays at the old MiraMar Hotel in Monticeto. For those of you not familiar with this location it was a rail fan's dream, as you will see from my video shot from the beach in front to our rooms on the balcony how close the tracks were . . and I loved those old SP horns . . . anyone tell me where the Golden State PV coach is located now?

Fortunately there are still a bunch in use on various mainline and shortline railroads today. (CP, and others and a lot of G&W short lines)

This might seem a small detail, but back it the day the place was often referred to as the “Blue Roofs”.

Next year is our 50th High School reunion and this came up in the discussions about a venue- "Hey, Trisha's (my wife. We were in the same class) brother worked on the new Miramar! Maybe he could.... Bedrooms and an open platofrm were added. A few years ago it was sold to an individual in Florida.
