AT&SF Chicago Coach Yard, 1975
Author: Hou74-76

December 1975, the AT&SF Chicago coach yard performed contract work for Amtrak.  Trains 15&16, 3&4 and I think the Illinois Zephyr were all serviced, stocked and stored at this yard.  Around back on the store track, sat a former Santa Fe 4-6-6 "Valley" series car renamed to Chief Illini.

I do not remember when the yard was closed.

Excellent rare shots in this yard I only saw from a distance.

Got my first passenger job there, as 4th cook on 17-18/3-4.   Washed dishes all the way to LAUPT, but i was happy and very tired.
