Nostalgia & History > Ready for an N&W excursion in RoanokeDate: 05/19/19 10:56 Ready for an N&W excursion in Roanoke Author: gcm (1) The last two RS3 units on the N&W are getting ready for two excursion runs this day during the 1977 Roanoke NRHS Convention.
A couple cars near the shops - 907 on the left was a Central of Georgia coach built by ACF in 1947. 1034 was one of the Southern heavyweight coach cars modernized in 1947. (2) Meanwhile back at the N&W station the cars and riders are getting ready. Impressive N&W signal bridge. (3) Here come the two Alcos. A fun day. I have other shots of these trips I'll post once in a while. Sept 77 Gary Date: 05/19/19 11:13 Re: Ready for an N&W excursion in Roanoke Author: refarkas Photo one captures so much history!

i missed you. I have a long gone shot of the RS units. I think they were in a wooded area.Maybe being turned. Can't remember that far back. Uncle Joe Seffner,Fl. And the RS unit with the diagonally mounted number boards on the long hood is originally Nickel Plate. I'm guessing the other RS3 is from the pre-merger N&W. Very neat!
