Nostalgia & History > SP SD45 questionDate: 05/19/19 22:30 SP SD45 question Author: Railfan4Christ Does anyone know of a list of where SP/SSW assigned their SD45's for maintenance? I can assume Roseville and LA were bases for some of the SP units, probably Pine Bluff for SSW. I am starting to model an SP unit 9071, but can't find any photos of it with its maintenance location on it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

That said, there is a photo taken by Brian Ambrose posted on locophotos.com of the 9071 with "Los Angeles" beneath the cab. The photo date is 10/10/1983. Cheers, Harry Edited 1 time(s). Despite the obvious logic that Cotton Belt locomotives would be assigned to Pine Bluff, the maintanence assignments were independent of the lettering on the hood, as by that time SSW existed only for accounting and tax purposes. I have never seen a photo of a SD45/T-2 assigned anywhere other than Los Angeles or Roseville for maintence (though for a time the SDP45s were stenciled "Bay Area." Doesn't mean it didn't happen, but it would have been the exception rather than the rule. The primary maintenence assignment stencils were Roseville, Los Angeles, Bay Area, Eugene, El Paso, and Pine Bluff. Elizabeth |
