Variety in Denver and the Colo Joint Line from 1998/99
Author: ns2557

Here are some sots from Denver and the Joint Line at 3 different spots from late 1998 to the first week of 1999.

Shot 1.  Up at Louviers Colo which sits just south of Big Lift I found this SB Coal Load just gettin underway after adding helpers at Big Lift. BN C30-7 5043 leads EMDX SD60 9093-KCS SD60 723-BN C30-7 5550. Just showing the variety that was common back then on the coal loads. Jan 07 1999.

Shot 2. Even father south on the Joint Line, another Coal Load heads south, this time just north of the switch at N.Pueblo Colo or 29th St on Dec 26 1998. EMDX SD60 9077 leads this one with BN SD40-2 7281-UP SD40-2 3321-BN C30-7 5092. The 5092 was upgraded by BN to what they deemed a C33-7 denoted by the red number boards which can be seen on the rear of the unit here. Also note Pikes Peak/Cheyenne Mountain on the left in shot. They are a good 40miles plus from here at Pueblo. On clear days one can see many miles in both directions.

Shot 3.  The Denver Shot.  On Jan 08-1999 I found the Ski Train at DUS waiting to head for Winter Park. AMT F40PH-2's 319-335-320 doing the honors on this day. The train, as can be seen, still consists of the DRGW Cars that made this a train to catch as it went west up the Front Range out of Denver. This turned out to be one of the few shots I managed of the Ski Train.

Thanks for looking. Ben

Think those were 242, 283 and 289 I believe. Unless they were renumbered from these 3 . Ben
