Nostalgia & History > TOFC, Nope - Road Railers, Nope - What? -- Ed ZarfossDate: 07/11/19 15:04 TOFC, Nope - Road Railers, Nope - What? -- Ed Zarfoss Author: MartyBernard What is this called? It's not TOFC (no flat car) or Road Railers. It's sort of in between.

Hello, ATSF, BN, TTX and others (including IAIS) had variations of these cars at various times. Although not standard equipment, I believe that similar articulated 3, 5 & 10 platform cars as well as the single-car designs were considered TOFC equipment. Take care, Mark Date: 07/11/19 16:05 Re: TOFC, Nope - Road Railers, Nope - What? -- Ed Zarfoss Author: CPR_4000 I was always intrigued by these ... articulated to reduce slack action, low tare weight, lower center of gravity vs. a standard pig flat. Seemed like a good idea!

Some were indeed sets of six platforms. Date: 07/11/19 21:32 Re: TOFC, Nope - Road Railers, Nope - What? -- Ed Zarfoss Author: Greyhounds That's just TOFC on an articulated spine flatcar.
Such cars are used to this day. Date: 07/12/19 08:05 Re: TOFC, Nope - Road Railers, Nope - What? -- Ed Zarfoss Author: TexasEagle77 Front Runners?
Ricky Date: 07/12/19 08:12 Re: TOFC, Nope - Road Railers, Nope - What? -- Ed Zarfoss Author: SPDRGWfan Front Runners were stand-alone cars. These sure look like Itel Impacks - no?

Just your average TOFC skeleton car. Usually seen 5 platform articulated. TTAX, TTRX. Its basically what almost all TOFC trailers ride on these days. Never saw one BN green, but that's whats different, as far as I can tell. |
