Nostalgia & History > UP Gay Mine Job, Idaho 8-20-1992 Part 2Date: 08/04/19 02:55 UP Gay Mine Job, Idaho 8-20-1992 Part 2 Author: RailRat 2 scenes of the same day (Part 1 posted on 7-23-19) of Gay mine Job up to MP 7.2 ,on way East, to 9 mile, where they will pick up more empty cars, on thier way up to the Gay mines in Idaho, East of Blackfoot . Engineer Jim Lance gives us a little more throttle power, plus some extra horn, Conductor Walt West is seen walking along the power in one of these scenes. More to come. Sorry for the crazy camera panning near the end, I was "Shootin and Scootin" to keep ahead of the job, even though the trains speed limit was about 10mph, still had to drive ahead, in unknown territory, and shoot from the hip, between each segment, without time to set up my tripod on the big old VHS Cam. Again Jointed Rail sound with a Caboose.

I will post more segments of this same day, as my time allows. They pick up more cars up ahead, and there's some pretty steep grades, plus they shove cars at the mine, then head back down hill with loaded cars, I guess all the power is for braking downhill on the way back? If you check on google you will see the rails are still place. They are quite over grown is spots. The last time I looked the track was listed as out of service.
