Neat photo.  I seem to remember the center cab Baldwins being used on this route in the mid-60's when my railfan synapses started to connect. GP9 works though.

Yes, Center cab Baldwins were the primary power on the Schuylkill Branch road trains in the 1960's.

I remember running down the hill (where my grandparent's house overlooked the Jalappa School in Pottsvile) just before supper time.  I would go down to Railroad Street and watch the Reading come out of the mines.  After it passed, I would go across Railroad Street and part way up the hill (near where Cudahy used to be) to watch the PRR centercab pull its loads of coal.  It was many years later that I actually saw photos of those units that I remember.  Thank you for all of your posts.
